Location

   

Genova is and ancient and historical city and is the seat of local government of the northern-Italy region Liguria. The town is placed on the sea, and it is the most important port of the Mediterranean. Genoa is reachable easily both by plane (6 daily flights to and from Rome, 4 daily flights to and from Milan Malpensa and London (Getwich and Standstead), 3 daily flights to and from Paris and Munich) and by train. Its propitiuos geographical position, in the middle of Italian Riviera, and its mild climate attract a consistent flow of tourists all over the year round.

How to reach the conference location

  • by plane: you can reach us by plane landing in the Genova Airport: Cristoforo Colombo, you can rent a car or take the shuttle to the train station Genova Brignole, and take the bus #43 toward "Albaro", then stop when you reach Viale Causa (follow Viale Causa and you will enter Via all'Opera Pia). You can land in Milano Malpensa or Milano Linate; from then you can either go to Milano Central Railway Station and take the train or to take a bus directly to Genova -details are here below.
  • by train: If you come by train, stop at the Genova Brignole Railway Station, and take the bus #43 toward "Albaro", then stop when you reach Viale Causa (follow Viale Causa and you will enter Via all'Opera Pia).
    If you come from Milano Central Railway Station, there are trains every hour to Genova, which is reached in less than 2 hours. You should buy a train ticket (they are sold also in Milano Malpensa and Milano Linate airports, in shops close to the bus stop), maybe asking for an InterCity fare if you plan to take an IC train. Remember to stamp the ticket at the train station. There are yellow stamping machines everywhere.
  • by bus:If you come by bus from Milano Malpensa you can take bus at 11.30 and at 20.00 every day at the Terminal 1 (this is as of October 2004; please check the schedule before finalizing the trip). Bus arrives at Piazza dalle Vittoria in Genova at 14.30 and at 23.00. You can also take the bus from Milano Malpensa to Milano Central Railway Station. It costs 5 Euros, there is a bus every 10', and the travel takes less than one hour (if there are no traffic jams). To reach Milano Central Railway Station, you might also take the train from Milano Malpensa to Milano Cadorna Railway Station, and then the subway to the Milano Central Railway Station, but it is easier to take the bus.
    If you land in Milano Linate, you can take a bus from Linate to Genoa with a schedule similar to the one above. Alternatively, you can take the blue bus from Milano Linate to Milano Central Railway Station. It costs 2 Euros, there is a bus every 30', and the travel takes about 25' (if there are no traffic jams). It is also possible to take bus 92 to San Babila street, and then the subway to the Milano Central Railway Station.
  • by car: If you come by car take the highway A10, or A11, or A7, or A26 in direction Genova and then stop at Genova-Nervi, follow Corso Europa in the directon Genova center, and then follow the road sign to Albaro. Stop when you reach Viale Causa (follow Viale Causa and you will enter Via all'Opera Pia).
